KIND OF BOWLING:

Bowling is an art which has many facets viz… Fast Bowling, Medium Fast , Cutters, Orthodox Spin Bowling and Unorthodox Spin

  • With different actions, different grips, different angles, different loops and pace.
  • Bowling using both the arms.


With basic coaching anyone can develop a satisfactory action. At junior level initially bowlers will find success easily but they find it difficult against better skill players. Coaches should encourage the bowler to experiment and learn new deliveries. Bowlers should develop and maintain quality at practice. Bowling is about maintaining discipline in line and length regardless of type of bowling

FIELDING SKILLS:

  • The game of cricket requires players to spend up to 80% of their time fielding and whilst attention is paid to fielding activities it is often as an “afterthought” or simply to fill in time at the end of training.
  • Every player’s aim should be to become as competent at fielding as they are at batting or bowling.
  • The best advice any coach can give a budding cricketer, there is no place to hide in fielding. Especially it is even more these days now that limited – overs cricket plays such a big part in a cricketer’s career.
  • When batsman are chasing runs in the one-day game it is important for the fielder to involve in match and start anticipating his move to effect a change in the course of the match.

Jonty Rhodes revived the art of fielding in modern day cricket. Fielding was considered compulsory practice, something that had to be done after every session of batting or fielding, but Rhodes and the South African team changed all that

  • Wicket Keepers plays a pivotal role in any match.
  • Wicket Keeping is a complex job.
  • Good Wicket keepers are motivators and bring in energy on the field. They are hard workers.
